If you stream an artist constantly, Spotify may now hold two concert tickets for you before the general sale. The program is called Reserved, and on September 24 Spotify added share cards, setlist playlists and a dedicated in-app home for it.
Who gets an offer
According to Spotify, Reserved is for eligible Premium subscribers aged 18 and over in the US, and since August 17, in Canada. Spotify says it picks fans using signals like streams, saves and shares, along with location, "to make sure offers reach fans who are likely to attend." It does not publish every detail of the formula, saying that is to avoid encouraging fans "to engage strategically rather than genuinely." There is no sign-up. If you are selected, you are notified by email, push notification and in Your Updates.
How the window works
Spotify says the purchase window is typically around a day, with two tickets held for you throughout. You can buy for any eligible date on the tour, not just the nearest one. Checkout happens on Ticketmaster, and you may need to link your Spotify and Ticketmaster accounts. Reserved launched in June in partnership with Live Nation and is powered by Ticketmaster. Unclaimed tickets go to the next most dedicated eligible fans.
What is new
The September update adds two personalized share cards, one when you are selected and one after you buy. Ticket holders also unlock a tour setlist playlist sourced from setlist.fm that updates after each show. Spotify named recent Reserved offers for artists including ROLE MODEL, Miley, Skillet, beabadoobee, Jonas Brothers, Brett Eldredge, John Summit, Young Thug and Metallica.
What it means for fans
Reserved is only available for select artists and tours, and Spotify says window lengths, availability and eligible dates vary by campaign. Still, the logic is clear: your listening history is becoming a ticket credential. Practical tips from Spotify itself: keep notifications for live events on, enable location in the app, and connect your Ticketmaster account ahead of time for faster checkout.
