Stuck Transfers: What to Do If Your Ticketmaster Ticket Will Not Show Up

You bought the ticket, your friend sent it over, and then nothing. That was the reality for fans at shows across the US on Friday, October 2, when Ticketmaster transfers stalled, and the company's global president admitted publicly that there were "stuck transfers."

What happened

TicketNews reported that customers across unrelated events and markets could not accept transferred tickets, cancel stuck transfers or reach tickets that appeared to be caught between accounts. Complaints referenced Harry Styles at Madison Square Garden, Bruno Mars at SoFi Stadium, Teddy Swims at Barclays Center, Weezer at Capital One Arena and BUNT. at Emo's in Austin, among others.

Ticketmaster Global President Saumil Mehta replied on X: "I'm here. Not active on Twitter since we are working on this issue. Apologies. We know there are stuck transfers and we are working to clear them." Ticketmaster has not publicly explained the cause, how many transfers were affected or how long the problem lasted, according to TicketNews.

What Ticketmaster told fans

By Saturday, Ticketmaster's Fan Support account was telling customers that most pending transfers were processing within 60 minutes and most were completing within 10. It also told fans with unresolved transfers for same-day events to take their confirmation information to the venue box office. TicketNews also reported that tickets bought through other resale sites can still rely on Ticketmaster's transfer system when Ticketmaster issued the original mobile ticket.

How to protect your night

Based on what Ticketmaster and venues told fans that weekend, a few habits help. Accept transfers as early as possible rather than on the day of the show. Keep your order confirmation and the sender's details saved somewhere you can reach without the app. If a transfer is still stuck on show day, go to the box office early with that proof. Some fans reported on Reddit that venues manually reissued barcodes after seeing proof of purchase, though TicketNews noted those individual accounts were not independently verified.

Nobody wants to spend the opening song arguing at a window. A little prep beforehand is the best insurance there is.
