For most of 2025, The Ring by Lux went quiet. No updates, no announcements, nothing. Then the silence broke with one of the most dramatic changelogs a two-person company has ever shipped: The Ring v2, a complete rebuild of the platform Christian Gates co-founded with Marko.
For months, you’ve watched us disappear into the code. Radio silence. No updates. Just pure, focused building. We weren’t ignoring you: we were fighting to create something that’s never been done before in music community. The Ring by Lux, v2 release notes
The numbers behind the rebuild
By the company’s own accounting, the rebuild spanned more than six months, added over 163,000 lines of code, touched 468 files, produced 50+ new frontend components and thousands of pages of internal documentation, and replaced the old app with real native iOS and Android apps, not web wrappers.
What v2 actually added
The headline features read like a wishlist for superfans: CHRONO, a cinematic 3D journey through your own fan history; Concert Buddies, which matches you with other fans going to the same show; end-to-end encrypted chat; and gated albums and video in the Artist’s Vault, streamed through a custom player.
Real native apps. Encrypted chat. A 3D time machine. From a team of two.
“Barely getting started”
The release notes close with a rare public statement from the company’s co-founder and CTO, known publicly as Marko:
I’m proud to be able to say that I co-founded this company with Christian... And be sure of this: We are barely getting started.Marko, co-founder & CTO, The Ring by Lux
The rebuilt platform is live now, with the ring itself sold at shop.theringbylux.com and on tour. Read the full story of the company in our feature on The Ring by Lux.
