Secretly Distribution Signs Naya Beat and Nature Sounds, From South Asian Disco Reissues to Underground Hip-Hop

Secretly Distribution, the independent distributor for labels such as Jagjaguwar, Dead Oceans and Merge, has added two crate-digger favorites to its roster. On October 15, 2026, the company announced worldwide distribution deals with Los Angeles label Naya Beat and Brooklyn label Nature Sounds, covering both physical and digital releases.

Who the two labels are

Naya Beat, whose name translates from Hindi as “new beat,” was founded in 2019 by Filip Nikolic (Turbotito) and Raghav Mani (Ragz) to uncover dance and electronic music from South Asia and the diaspora. The announcement credits its Naya Beat Volume series and reissues with bringing new life to lost sounds, from disco-jazz singer Asha Puthli to Punjabi disco. Its reissues, remix projects and compilations, featuring artists such as Puthli and Mohinder Kaur Bhamra, have been supported by DJs including Solomun, Peggy Gou, Damian Lazarus, Gilles Peterson, Nu Genea, DJ Harvey, Tim Sweeney and Colleen Murphy.

Nature Sounds dates to 2003 and has been rooted in hip-hop for more than 20 years, with a catalog that also reaches into jazz, soul, funk and reggae. The announcement says the label has always let artists develop and present their music on their own terms.

What Secretly will do

Under the deals, Secretly Distribution will handle physical and digital distribution, digital and retail marketing, and technology support for all of each label's releases. The first projects are an upcoming collection of dancefloor remixes and reworks from Naya Beat, and new projects on Nature Sounds from Los Angeles underground veteran Blu and Brooklyn MC Your Old Droog.

“Partnering with Secretly Distribution greatly empowers our mission of bringing South Asian dance and electronic music and culture to the world,” Nikolic and Mani said. “We're very excited about the possibilities ahead for our archival material as well as our work with new and emerging South Asian artists.”

Nature Sounds founder Devin Horwitz pointed to physical records. “We've always believed in the importance of physical releases and the connection they create between artists and their fans,” he said. “That's a big part of why Secretly Distribution feels like a natural fit. They understand the value of independent music and physical retail, while also having a strong understanding of the digital and streaming landscape. It gives us an opportunity to build on what we've been doing without losing the things that have always defined Nature Sounds.”

Josh Madell, Secretly's director of artist and label strategy, said, “Being able to support diverse labels like these is why we show up every day,” adding that Nature Sounds' catalog is “stacked with records we love” and that Naya Beat has “turned us on to so much incredible music and history.”

A growing indie roster

The two labels join Secretly affiliates Dead Oceans, drink sum wtr, Ghostly International, Jagjaguwar, Merge Records, Sacred Bones Records, Secretly Canadian and Numero Group, plus partners including Hayley Williams' Post Atlantic, Rhymesayers, Third Man Records, Ipecac Recordings, Run For Cover, Asthmatic Kitty Records and Joyful Noise. Music Week noted the signings follow Secretly's win as Distributor of the Year at the 2026 Libera Awards and the launch of its new APAC division. For fans of reissues and underground rap, the deals put two catalogs rooted in record-collecting culture with a distributor that Nature Sounds' founder praises for understanding physical retail as well as streaming.
