MADKID Records: The Label Behind Dutch Melrose

Behind almost every Dutch Melrose song is a two-word credit: MADKID Records. The Los Angeles imprint has carried his catalog since around 2022, and it is a window into how he operates.

An artist-centered imprint

From RUNRUNRUN onward, MADKID Records is the label stamped on his releases, and it is not just a solo vehicle. It is also home to close collaborators like benny mayne and co-billed acts such as PRETTY HAVØC on the Mirror Mirror EP. That makes it read less like a vanity label and more like a small collective built around a shared, cinematic dark-pop sound, a scene with an address.

Control over the catalog

Running his releases through a single, tightly held imprint gives Dutch the same thing an independent operation always wants: control of the pace, the sound, and the catalog. It is why he can release as often as he does without waiting on anyone’s calendar, and why the catalog hangs together sonically, one taste running the whole operation.

One label, one sound, one steady release schedule.

A note on ownership

Sources consistently show his catalog releasing through MADKID Records, and other artists releasing under it too. Where the exact ownership structure is not stated in public, we describe it as the imprint he “releases through” rather than assert more than is documented. Either way, the function is clear: a home base that keeps a prolific independent artist independent. More in the wiki.

The operation, on the record

The label runs out of Studio City, Los Angeles, with Josh Harms as founder and CEO and Benjamin Shubert as Creative Director. The public roster spans benny mayne, Ashley Sienna, Natalia Marion, HARRY WAS HERE, PRETTY HAVØC and Rad Cat alongside Dutch Melrose himself, and the label has been actively recruiting digital-marketing interns, a working operation, not a vanity imprint. Distribution runs through DistroKid while the catalog and publishing stay owned in-house.
